SOME INITIAL WORDS…

ajvPresenting with impact, presence and confidence is an art, a science and very much a mindset too. I should know. Over the last 15 years, I have spent close to 15,000 hours in front of audiences, many more over my career lifetime. Over those years, I’ve been both unprepared and prepared, I’ve been scared, I have messed up, badly sometimes, and I have got it superbly right too. All these experiences add up to a deep understanding of presenting, backed up by an equally comprehensive understanding of behaviour.

It’s an ability I’d like to share. It’s an ability that makes a real difference too, to you and the people you present both for and to.

PRESENTATIONTUTOR is both an educational programme and a group coaching programme designed to help you build confidence and presence, so that you may have impact.

The programme is built around distinct digital learning programmes that will grow in number across the duration of your participation, coupled to live online seminars (which are recorded too, for later access) and even some personal support too.

The programme will grow. So will your ability.

The following is a brief synopsis of me, provided to illustrate my credentials in helping you achieve Peak Status as a Presenter.

  • Close to 15,000 hours in the last 15 years in front of audiences, all healthcare-related
  • Extensive presentation experience in teaching, invited lectures and business presentations
  • Programme Lead for leadership & transformation, Academyst LLP
  • From 5-minute elevator pitches to multi-day teaching
  • Audiences from a few to thousands
  • Delivery of clinical lectures e.g. Oxygen Free radical Damage of the Preterm Lung
  • Extensive experience of delivering pitches for tenders
  • Business pitches with £50+ million in asset value at risk
  • Primary writer for all Academyst & Grow Medical presentations
  • Expert status with PowerPoint

In truth, it is difficult to convey my experience. I am obviously best known for my 15 years in leadership, management and professional development, over which time I have spent hundreds of days per year in front of predominantly senior medical audiences delivering lectures and education, along with a plethora of invited guest lectures at local, regional, national and international levels. To this day, the primary source of participants in our programmes is recommendation. You just don’t get that unless you have the right impact. My earlier days were spent in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries, up to senior manager level, where business presentations were a near-daily norm and where you were expected to be equally comfortable from a departmental meeting with peers to the Board of a major multinational.

Besides my vast experience in presenting, I have a deep interest in behaviour and the sciences behind it. This is crucial to success in presentations. The right information delivered in the wrong manner for the inner human in front of you will lead to disappointment and frustration. Equally, not all presentations communicate with the same area of the brain and it is vital that you pitch to the right part, as well as know how to change mental gears smoothly.
